Job Purpose:

The Trust and Business Development role will develop the knowledge and skill needed to manage assigned client relationships, develop new client relationships and deliver high quality fiduciary services to both. Through training and required certifications will build a thorough knowledge of governing documents and account agreements and maintain up to date knowledge of fiduciary laws and regulations, estate planning techniques, financial planning, assets management, prudent investment principals and retirement plan regulations. Providing extraordinary client service to existing relationships and develops prospecting skills to consistently achieve new business goals. Actively cultivates relationships with referral sources and external professionals to build the business. Participates in community and professional organizations representing Peoples Bank to demonstrate expertise and thought leadership.

Job Duties:

  • Serve assigned client relationships, proactively, acting as an advocate for the client within Peoples Bank.
  • For Retirement Plans assigned - will conduct annual sponsor review, employee education and enrollment meetings.
  • Maintain established service standards for each client.
  • Utilize available bank systems for client contact, client/prospect meetings and administration of assigned client accounts.
  • Understand and comply with internal policies, processes and procedures with a focus on prudent risk management.
  • Work collaboratively with internal partners and external professionals to develop new business opportunities. Utilizing resources such as Larkspur and Free ERISA to help generate opportunities for new business.
  • New business implementation - will be responsible for collecting all necessary information and ensuring new account paperwork is completed and executed in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of fiduciary standards and practices and apply this knowledge and judgment to fiduciary relationships.
  • Support other Trust and Investment Team members and internal partners.

  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Job Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance.
  • 1-3 years' experience working in a fiduciary environment preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications for position. Certifications will depend on area of focus in role. Examples of certifications - Certified Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA), Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC) and Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA)
  • Experience in Trust administration and New Business Development through assessing client needs, identifying/recommending solutions and building/managing client relationships.
  • Collaborates effectively to get things done, building and nurturing strong relationships.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new information and technology platforms.
  • Effective time management.
  • Working knowledge of financial and fiduciary products and services and how they apply to particular client situations.
  • Productive use of resources, technology and other assistance to achieve extraordinary client experience.
  • Business development experience through internal and external referrals, prospect calls, joint calls with bank partners, community involvement, etc.

Basis Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications for position.
