DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) counsels members of the University as they transition into retirement and provides long-term pension and retirement health benefits support.

POSITION SUMMARY

Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) is looking for a student with an interest in helping drive a new weekly performance review process that will improve RASC's ability to deliver a high quality member experience. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the Intern will work and collaborate with various RASC departments on reporting and analytics.

This internship presents an exciting opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in data strategy and operations within a customer-focused, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about efficiency and always looking for a better way to do something. If you have strong desire to problem solve and take innovation from idea to implementation then this is the opportunity for you.

Current undergraduate UC business majors are welcome to apply. This position does require working on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note this is a 10-Week Student Intern assignment, scheduled end date for this position is September 2024.

Responsibilities

70% - Weekly operational performance reviews

Partner with internal teams to compile, analyze, and deliver Weekly Performance Reviews

Create a repeatable process for Weekly Performance Review data collection and presentation

Optimize data and charts for readability and at-a-glance insights

Build templates to capture weekly notes and action items

30% - Adhoc data reporting and analysis

Use data analytics to analyze trends and identify areas for improvement.

Deep dive into data to infer causes of inefficiencies and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Create data reports that provide actionable insights for process optimization.

Contribute to enhancing output efficiency and quality through data-driven recommendations.

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled Undergraduate with the University of California student majoring in Business

Strong interest in turning data into actionable insights and building reports that highlight operational performance

Proficiency in data reporting and analysis tools including Excel as well as data querying and visualization tools

Working skills to analyze information and synthesize large amounts of information and data with attention to details.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, organization and time management skills.

Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints and changing priorities.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations.

Must be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

An ability to help tell stories in simple, understandable ways using data and reports

A desire to experiment with new forms of data presentation

Education

Currently enrolled Undergraduate student with the University of California majoring in Business

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $19.96 - $24.95 hourly commensurate with skills/experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person hired will be required to report to work on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, subject to change.
